Happy holidays! I’ve been pretty busy of late, and haven’t been posting as much as I used to. One of the reasons is that I’m working on a new cookbook, and there’s a lot of cooking to be done! I’ll write more about this project soon, but looking at my recent activity you can probably already guess what it’s about. In the meantime, the holiday break gives you a perfect opportunity to try some of the few recipes I posted over the past year:
- I’ve shared several seafood recipes inspired by my trips to Croatia. The warm Adriatic mussel salad or the elaborate Adriatic octopus, lime ravioli and fish soup are sure to impress.
- In the meat department, the Pag Island lamb trio with spring vegetables is an excellent dish, spring or not.
- For dessert, tea, or even breakfast, try the buchty, Czech sweet buns or klašuni, walnut cookies from Korčula.
And like every year, here’s also a list of my most popular posts of 2023:
- The Bosnian Ćevapi with Kajmak, Ajvar, and Lepinja and Qurutob, Tajikistan’s National Dish are tied for the fourth spot, within a dozen views of one another. They’re still my second and first most popular dishes of all times, respectively.
- We have another tie in the second position, where Khinkal, Dagestan’s National Dish is being challenged by a newcomer, Swiss Chard and Potatoes, Dalmatia’s Favorite Side Dish.
- Finally, Kajmak, the Clotted Cream of the Balkans, remains at the top of the chart. This has been a popular post since its publishing in 2020. Much bigger websites have since published their own kajmak recipes, but you read about it first on Food Perestroika!
