New Server, New Theme!

Frequent readers will certainly have noticed some changes in Food Perestroika’s look and feel over the past few days. This is still a work in progress, so I apologize for the less-than-perfect appearance. Here’s what’s been cooking:

  • I’m out of wordpress.com! Now I can install whatever themes and plug-ins I like, but what this means for you is that there will be no more ads.
  • And the main change? My previous Wordpress theme was nearly two and a half years old, and it was time for a change. Say hello to the new Vanilia theme!

What do you think? Is it better, or did you prefer the old site?

I liked your previous site better, but I see some very nice progress here as well.
The previous site gave a better feeling on having an overview of what is happening on your great blog and was somehow a bit easier to read. Now there is many big elements which take away attention from the content. On the other hand it is nice to see some slider which provides a dynamic peek on what is available on the site as well.
The comment section is below your bottom slider and hard to find. the new “share this” buttons look much more elegant. So please take away the standard WP ones. And of course the pictures have to be resized a bit for a constant flow.
I believe the old theme fitted better to your logo and blog title, but probably it is now easier to catch a new modern audience.
Anyway, your content has been great and I guess it will stay great. This is the most important to me.
Does this make sense?

Alas, I only just subscribed as you changed over . . . BUT, I like the look and feel and share your excitement as I have also just changed my theme.
Love the artwork!
