That’s right, today is National Caviar Day. Once upon a time, New York City bars gave free caviar to their customers to keep them thirsty. Nowadays, of course, you’re unlikely to see restaurants handing over free spoonfuls of the black gold. Not even to mark today’s celebration (you can always try to persuade them; you never know…).
Should you decide to make your own caviar dinner menu, here are a few recipes:
- Both my Sturgeon Astrakhan and King Crab Ravioli with Caviar and Vodka Cream are dishes that scream luxury and indulgence.
- You can go a simpler route: just buy a tin of roe, and make your own blini.
- Or you can go the whole nine yards and prepare your own cured fish roe.
Finally, this video shows Thomas Keller giving a “caviar lesson” (and stuffing his face with sturgeon eggs in the process).
Now if for some reason you decide to skip National Caviar Day, you could just make up for it next week on National Hot Dog Day 🙂
